The Strategy paper of the National Assembly is currently under scrutiny.

Cameroon's National Assembly will soon have a more modern and efficient management and functioning system when the strategy document being drawn up will be adopted and rendered operational. Members of the Steering Committee to draw up the Strategy paper of the National Assembly began meeting at the National Assembly yesterday, January 18, to examine the first document of the strategy paper. The chairman of the Steering Committee, Hon. Awudu Mbaya Cyprian who is also a Questor at the National Assembly, while chairing the meeting said the document was a turning point in the modernization process of the management and functioning of Parliament. He said government has for some time now opted to ensure the transparent and efficient management of resources, stating that the Strategy paper of the National Assembly will enable the institution play a leading role in the domain of governance.

The Steering Committee members will today at the National Assembly continue to fine-tune the strategy paper awaiting adoption. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril in an Order on October 22, 2008 created the Steering Committee to draw up the Strategy of the National Assembly Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril created the Steering Committee and the Technical Secretariat to work on the strategy document. The Chairman of the Steering Committee, Hon. Awudu Mbaya said the mission of the Committee is to supervise stages in the drawing up of the strategy document, validate and define modalities for its adoption. He specified that the Technical Secretariat has to collect and centralize necessary documentation for the drawing up of the strategy document, prepare a detailed calendar of activities and write up the consolidated document and submit to the steering Committee. Document I under scrutiny, essentially x-rays the state of affairs in the House. This is manifested through sub sectors such as legislation, parliamentary diplomacy, human resources, operational capacity, piloting and control framework and governance. The document also presents the diagnosis of each of the sub sectors, the strengths, weaknesses and the way forward for efficient management in the National Assembly.
